13 & 14: Up/Down

Blazer: LC Lauren Conrad | Plaid: American Eagle | Dress: Calvin Klein | Shoes: Nine West Booboo | Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: F21 | Earrings: F21

My very favorite part of 30 for 30 is that my options are either get creative or go naked. So many times in the past, I've bought something and loved it but only worn it one way. And when you're only wearing something one way, you kind of have to stretch out the time between when you wear it.

Take this dress. Before this month, I'd only worn it with black pumps and a black blazer, and I'd only worn it once. I would never have had the guts to wear it with a leopard sweater, and I never would have tried to dress it up with plaid (sounds kind of like an oxymoron, right?) and a blazer or dress it down with a cargo jacket. None of this is groundbreaking, I know, but I'm having such a freaking blast that I couldn't help but share.

Also, red blazer: I forgive you.

Cargo jacket: Nordie's | Gingham: J.Crew | Dress: Calvin Klein | Flats: Me Too Patty | Necklace: F21 | Chain bracelet: J.Crew | Rhinestone bracelet: American Eagle

Also... remember that not-bloggy project I was talking about last week? I finally stopped sewing through myself long enough to finish it.

You've probably figured out by now that I love to sew... I sort of gave it away here and here. What can I say, I'm an old (geriatric?) soul. I know this is some serious shameless self promotion, but if you know anyone with a baby (or have to buy presents in the near future for anyone with a baby), I'd love if you'd check out my brand spanking new Etsy shop. :)

And, I'm just saying, I'm not a baby and I take my blanket eeeeeverywhere.
Studying in the giant drafty library for the two weeks of the year directly before finals? Check.
On airplanes, because it's cuter than those saran wrapped ones the airline hands out? Check.
In the car, because Boyfriend cranks the A/C like we're in the sub-Saharan desert even in the dead of winter? Check.
In movie theaters, because they're pretty much giant meat lockers? Check check check.

Thanks you guys. Happy Monday!

  1. Not only are you stylish, but you are talented too! Now I wish I was a baby or just having a baby so I could buy those super cute burp cloths you made. OK, I would settle for just having a pregnant friend. I have an affinity for Florida though and I REALLY want the flamingo burp cloth (the two go hand in hand). Maybe my cat could use one??? I will be directing all friends and family to your new esty shop!

    1. I absolutely think your cat could use one. I may just add that to my item descriptions... "perfect for baby vom... and cats!!!" I like it. The funny thing is I know nothing about babies. They scare me.

Also, can I just tell you how jealous I am that you can sew!? Sad story - I got a sewing machine last YEAR for Christmas and have yet to figure out how to thread it. It has taken me a full 11 months to TREAD. A. NEEDLE! Yes, it WILL be on my resolutions AGAIN this year! haha

  3. I seriously love how you've styled this dress in both pictures. I love finding new ways to wear the same thing. I love the plaid shirt under the dress and blazer. Too cute. Love your blog ;)

    1. Thanks so much! It's definitely the best part. I mean plaid and this dress? Never even crossed my mind until they were hanging up next to each other. Mind blown!

  4. Sam, you sassy nugget, you are not only super SUPER pretty but talented when it comes to such BEAUTIFUL quilted blankets oh and super intelligent too, I can't believe your bf haven't been on his knees to ask you to be his wifey to do some more blankets for your future babies :-)hahahaha
That's the great part of doing such a 30x30 challenge Sam. Getting creative and thinking about ways to combine different clothes. That's one part what I love about blogging and look at other blogs. Sometimes there are just great creations I have never thought about. Love your classic take of that dress and the more chic way, there are no limits.

Ok listen my friend, when I get a baby girl in 100 years I will be 131 by then and my american boyfriend decides to ask his super cute german gf hahahaha ;-) OMG then I will order this super fun flamingo blanket :-) As there are only boys in his family tree so far I might just order the White/Pink/Green/Aqua Minky Christmas Lap Blanket :-). How big are the chances that they are still available in 100 years? :-D For myself I LOVE the zebra blanket too bad they are for diaper changing, glad I am clean in that matter hahahaha.
Sam I am really impressed with your talent and its great to know that there are still women out there who does that kind of lovely handcraft and soooooo glad we are blogger friends :-)

    1. You always put a smile on my face pretty lady! You're gonna be the hottest 131 year old mom around. American Boyfriend better lock that down ASAP! For you, I'll make sure I'm still sewing. We'll deck out our babies in MIAUH sweats and flamingo blankets and they'll be absolutely destined to be bloggers. :)
